The Dispute Resolution Authority Order No. 1 of 2016 in Respect of the DIFC Courts Mandatory Code of Conduct
I, Michael Hwang, Head of the DRA, make the following Order:
In exercise of the powers conferred on me by Article 8 (5) (b) of Dubai Law No. 7 of 2014, amending Dubai Law No. 9 of 2004; and
After having reviewed:
Article 3 of Dubai Law No. 7 of 2014, amending Law No. 9 of 2004, (Dubai Law No. 7 of 2014) establishing the DIFC Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA);
Article 8 (1) (c) and (8) (5) (b) of Dubai Law No. 7 of 2014 in respect of the composition of the Dispute Resolution Authority and the powers and duties of delegation of the Chief Justice of the DIFC Courts/Head of Dispute Resolution Authority;
Resolution (3) of 2014, issued by His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), in light of Article 8(1)(c) and 8(5)(b) of Dubai Law No. 7 of 2014 cited above establishing the DIFC Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA) Academy; and
DRA Order No. 2 of 2015 in respect of the DRA Academy of Law;
1. This Order may be cited as DRA Order No. 1 of 2016 in respect of the DIFC Courts Mandatory Code of Conduct.
2. By this Order, in my capacity as Head of the DRA and Chief Justice of the DIFC Courts, I hereby issue the revised DIFC Courts Mandatory Code of Conduct, which makes provision for the new role of the DRA Academy of Law in receiving and processing Code of Conduct complaints, alongside the Supplementary Practice Direction.
3. The revised Code of Conduct shall take effect on the date of issue of this Order.
