Consultation — The DIFC Small Claims Tribunal (Limits of Jurisdiction) Order, Order No. 1 of 2010

May 18, 2010 CONSULTATIONS

The DIFC Courts welcome views and comments on the attached draft order. The order would allow the Small Claims Tribunal (“SCT”) to hear claims over AED100,000 that relate to employment matters, provided the parties elect to use the small claims mechanism. For non-employment claims which are for AED500,000 or less and in which all parties consent, the SCT mechanism could also be used. The purpose of this order is to allow greater access to the SCT, particularly for employment cases. The DIFC Courts invite interested persons to make representations with respect to the order by 4pm in Dubai on 18 May 2010.

The DIFC Courts value all comments received on the draft order and will endeavour to take into account all comments received when issuing the final order.
